Reconditioning of pelletizing die plates for polymer pelletizing

CTD is expert in reconditioning of pelletizing die plates for underwater pelletizing of polymers like LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, PP, PS, ... and also for compounding and master batch

Since many years, CTD is active in underwater pelletizing. Therefore we are recognized as reliable partner by the major polymer producers worldwide.
As an independent supplier, we recondition all types of die plates

Pelletizing die plates

In order obtain good pelletizing quality, you die plate has to be in perfect condition. This requires high quality maintenance. Because CTD is active in the underwater pelletizing business since many years, we are recognized as a reliable and high quality partner by the major polyolefin producers worldwide. As an independent supplier we service all die plates, independently of the manufacturer. CTD is able to recondition die plates as large as 1500 mm in diameter. We repair die plates with cutting faces with nibs, tiles and Ferro-TiC segments. Depending on the type of die plate, damaged nibs or tiles can be replaced without refacing the entire cutting face.

Used techniques

  1. Thermal cleaning in a pyrolysis oven with very low oxygen content to remove all polymer residues. Since a die plates has thin- and thick-walled sections the temperature rise and drop has to be very accurately controlled in order to avoid thermal distortion and material property changes of the die plate.
  2. After cleaning the die plate is visually inspected on damage.
  3. All relevant dimensions are inspected. Flatness and parallelism are measured on our 3D-CMM machine.
  4. Pressure leak test to check for leaks in the heating channels.
  5. Ultrasonic bond test of the cutting face.
  6. With our rotary surface Blanchard grinder wear, misalignement and distortion are restored to obtain perfect flatness combined with perfect parallelism.
  7. Our grinding wheels are specially developed to grind carbide and Ferro-TiC without damaging the properties of these materials.

Reports

With every die plate we supply a dimensional report with photographs of defects and photographs taken during grinding. This helps you to keep track of the history of your die plate and to solve pelletizing problems by analysis of die plate wear, defects, deformation…
